Report:

Another nice day out there, 1-2 ft and light wind from the north. Live bait was everywhere you looked from abot 9 miles out. Some really large ones to boot. After baiting up ,NM was our destination. We fished 3-4 places with limited sucess,1 snapper and a seabass. It was time to rebait and in the process a cobia made his entrance and stirred up the crew. We tried everthing in the arsenal but all he did was tease us! Then finally, we force fed him a lively sardine  and our host John was hooked up. After a 30-35 minute tug of war John won and the Cobia made the fishbox.

From the cobia war, we headed south and 2 more spots. The sharks started to show up and interfere with our efforts. The bottom fish didn't want to bite with them in the area. We did manage 2 grouper and 1 snap. John waited for an hour for that BIG BITE and finally got it at the last minute. That big grouper busted him and left JOHN a very anxious man.

JOHN we will get next time!  TIGHT LINES!!

Lets hope they are better naval officers than fishermen!!! At least none were sea sick.....that would be an occupational hazard for prospective Ensigns. Thanks for showing them a great day, and for sending them home with a cooler full of fish. One thing midshipmen can do is eat.   Posted by: Dan McCarthy
