Friday, December 30, 2005 - DAN McCARTHY AND THE ENSIGN Back
Seas: 1-2    Water Temp: 61.0°F Crew:
Moon:     Location: NE BOTTOM
Species: 9 Snapper  Category: Snapper Catches
Report:

We finally got a break on the weather. 1-2 feet was the forecast and that's what we got! So it was off to the deep water some 34-35 miles east of the jetties. On the first stop the started out slowly and finally gave up 4 nice snapper before the sharks got to us. They were relentless. Tangling our lines and destroying the rigs, it was time to move.

When we arrived at the next place one of my dive friends were there and in the process of completing their dive. He informed me that there were several snapper on the place and we may get a few to bite. So we gave it a try. The first couple of attempts resulted in more sharks, then finally the snapper came on in. We boated 5 more nice ones before the sharks got back into the game. With it being close to time to go home we decided to try one last spot. We did and the sharks ate us up. After they totally wiped us out, it was time to head home.

Eventough the sharks pestered us all day we wound up with 9 nice snapper some beeliners and triggers. The ride home was beautiful! See you soon Dan And John. TIGHT LINES!!
