Today was the first time in a very long time that I have seen the weather change as rapidly as it did today. Leaving the Mayport jetties we had around 12 kts of wind from the WNW. The ride was OK until we got 6 miles out and it increased to just at 20 kts and the sea had built to 3-4 ft from the NW. My buddy on the Mayport Princess was passing my way so we jumped in under his stern to help improve the ride.We didn't go far and the wind and sea increased evenmore. Capt George called and informed me that it was building to much for him and he was turning back to Mayport. We followed suit.
After getting back to the beach we decided to catch some poggies and try for some reds at the jetties. While in the process of catching our poggies the wind completely abated and fell to zero. So we headed back offshore toward PM.
We tried 3 places with no luck and finally spotted some spanish sardines on the surface. So out came the sibikis and we managed to catch enough to get started. Our next stop we had 3 snapper and 1 grouper for our efforts. After they quit bitting we headed out to MG. That was our last stop. They were ready to go. After losing 3-4 nice fish our guys got into the swing of things and boated 6 more nice snapper up to around 15 pounds. Final count 9 snapper, 1 grouper, 3 flounder and a few seabass.
Brett I enjoyed the day with you and Tommy and your guest. We will do it again soon! TIGHT LINES
