There are days that I just have a good feeling about before we leave the dock. This was one of them! Before we got offshore I told Bill that this would be a day that our old friend Carl Shoaf would enjoy. Carl passed away recently but his spirit, passion for fishing and love for life lingers with us! Carl may be gone but our thoughts are with him.
After a 4 day northeaster the ocean was somewhat dirty. The live bait was realy thinned out and almost nonexistant. We did manage a few cigar minnows and small grunts. We had 40 pounds of frozen sardines in standby.
After an hour of looking for the live bait we headed south to PV in pursuit of the mighty cobia. It didn't take long. We had a nice one on the first place. With another boat trying to fish the same spot I decided to go further south to a ledge in hopes to get the snapper and grouper going on frozen bait. They did! Six snapper, three grouper, flounder, sea bass and one additional cobia decided to just us for dinner. There were several other fish that were hooked and got off, but that just added to the fun.
This was an enjoyable and fun day with a great crew. The kind that Carl would have enjoyed!! TIGHT LINES
