Tuesday, July 24, 2007 - SPECIAL WEATHER EVENT Back

Report:

Twisters Anyone??? During our transit to our first fishing location the sky suddenly turned dark and it looked as if someone had built a fence ahead of us.  We had seven water spouts in the water, all spaced vertually equal distances apart. I unfortunately could not get my camera to function in a wide angle mode. We did get one photo of four of them while they were forming.

Obvieously with that situation we turned and headed back to Mayport with our tail between our legs. We encountered this system at 8 miles ENE of the Mayport jetties at 7:50 AM and were followed at 20 kts back to the jetties where number 9 touched down in very close proximatey to a US NAVAL SHIP and 4 Mayport shrimp boats. It was nice to return to port. There will be better days!!
