With a good weather forecast and a fired up crew, the plan was to head out some 32 miles to a wreck and do battle with some Mangrove Snapper. We did, along with several large Amberjacks, nice Vermillion Snapper and several throwback Red Snapper. A 40+ pound Cobia also found his way into our fishbox.
When it was apparent that the Amberjacks were not going to leave us alone, was off to another small wreck another 4.5 miles to the northeast. Red Snapper was our target and we hit it. After several throwbacks the keepers started. We boated eight nice ones and lost one just below the boat that would have been in the lower 20 pound range. We also boated 2 dolphin as their group passed by.
After the snapper bite we headed into some natural bottom in search of a grouper. It didn't happen so it was time to clean the catch and we headed for the barn. final count one 40+ pound Cobia, eight Red Snapper, two Mangrove Snapper, one Trigger Fish and one Sea Bass. A nice day!!
